MARCH UPDATE

On 23rd March 2024 Kinross Camera Club will be at The Better Place to Live Fair held in the Loch Leven Community Campus. Please come along to our stand and see photographs taken recently by our members. There will be some members available on the day to provide information about our club and all the activities and will also be happy to answer any photography related questions you may have.

The beginning of this month sees our League 3 competition being judged by Douglas Allan in the Church Centre. This is the last leg of our League competitions and the scores from the winning photographs across the three categories of the three leagues will be calculated to give us our final winners at the end of the season. We are also looking forward to a talk given by two of our members who have recently returned from a holiday of a lifetime to Antarctica. It will be fabulous to hear all about their adventure and to see a slideshow of their photography. Our joint meeting in the hall with the Fife and Kinross Group of The Scottish Wildlife Trust takes place this month and we will be welcoming local Wildlife Photographer Roger Stewart from Perthshire. Roger will be presenting his superb and inspirational photographs of wildlife taken both at home and abroad. Definitely a meeting not to be missed.

Our last meeting in March is a Zoom presentation by Kieran Metcalfe entitled ‘Taming The Chaos’. Kieran will talk about exercising photographic control in the landscape. Landscape photography relies on two components, the atmospheric conditions, which you cannot control, and the composition of the scene, which you absolutely can. He will cover the principles of composition which he has learnt along the way and applies to his images.

Our featured photograph this month is called Osprey and Pike and was taken by John St Clair on a visit to Vane Farm Nature Reserve.
