We have fantastic news – Kinross Camera Club came 1st in the recent tightly fought competition against Perth Photographic Society and Auchterarder Camera Club to win the Perthshire Alliance trophy. A great achievement and congratulations to all involved.
We begin November with a Zoom presentation by Scottish Landscape photographer Margaret Soraya who is based on the Isle of Harris. Margaret has a deep love of the sea and her photography portrays beautiful artistic interpretations of stormy seas and her images have been described akin to impressionist paintings. By slowing the shutter speed she creates gentle, quiet and calm seas from wild, stormy windswept days. She uses minimalist compositions with a very limited colour palette and tone, allowing the Hebrides’ distinctive turquoise sea to stand out.
This month we will be holding our League 1 competition in the hall with guest judge David Fergusson from Denny.
Underwater photographer David Keep will be presenting his Zoom talk ‘The Big Stuff’ – from Manatees to Crocodiles, Seals to Whale Sharks. He will also include a section on how he shot his World Cup Gold Medal image ‘Diving Gannets’ in Shetland. This is a hugely anticipated talk and definitely one not to miss.
Later this month we very much look forward to an evening in the hall when we can enjoy members talks by Dick Crighton and Robin Millar who will take the stage and show some of their photography from the past and present.
We complete our November programme with an exciting Zoom talk by Wildlife and Travel Photographers Eddy and Pam Lane with their talk ‘Kingdom of The Ice Bear’ when they will share their images of frozen landscapes and very close encounters with Polar Bear and Walrus in Svalbard. Dianne Whalley
