October Update

We have enjoyed a great start to the new season and our schedule for October promises more exciting events not to miss. The month begins with a Zoom presentation by Macro Photographer Roger Hance called ‘Nature in Macro Photography. Roger shares tips and techniques how to photograph UK insects, fungi, wildflowers and amphibians. On 9th October the Perthshire Alliance competition takes place at Perth Civil Service Club. This is the first of our two external photography competitions. An afternoon where we meet up with two local photography clubs and in friendly combat our images are judged by an external judge who has the difficult task of scoring each image and deciding on the winning club. October also sees the first of our internal club competitions ‘Fortune and Greer’ and Smartphone photography. A friendly evening when the submitted images are judged by club members.

We have a second Zoom presentation this month. Spike and Penny Piddock from Dorchester Camera Club will take us far across the world across to Ambon in The Spice Islands in Indonesia. We will be treated to an evening of their Underwater Photography and also through Spike and Penny’s portrait and landscape photography we learn about the people who live in Ambon.

The month ends with a favourite called ‘Everyone a Judge’. An evening which gives members a chance to put on our judging hat. A selection of previously scored images from another photography club are displayed in a slideshow and we are invited to give our own score for each image. Often we agree with the original judges score and sometimes we don’t! All in good humour this is always an entertaining evening.

If you have an interest in photography and would like to join us or If you would like to learn more about Kinross Camera Club and our activities and events please contact secretary@kinrosscameraclub.org.uk
