We have had a great start to our new season and last month members enjoyed some excellent zoom talks presented by some extremely talented photographers. We shared an evening of members pictures where we chatted about our images and shared constructive advice about how to improve our techniques.
There is much to look forward to over the following weeks including a couple of annual in-club competitions. A Smartphone Image competition where members can submit up to 3 images taken on their smartphone and our Fortune and Greer competition which has the theme ‘Gold’ this year. We are anticipating with great excitement a presentation by Shetland wildlife and landscape photographer Richard Shucksmith. Richard who holds a PhD in Marine Biology, particularly enjoys photographing the coast around Shetland and through his camera lens he combines his love of photography and passion for ecology. Our very own Tim Wilcock will share with us a slide show presentation of images showcasing his work over the years as a professional photographer. The first of our League competitions takes place which is to be judged by Ian Sturrock DPAGB. We have a young professional photographer Harry Wheeler-Brand from East Anglia presenting to us his inspirational images of Suffolk, Norfolk Essex and Cambridgeshire. The end of the month we welcome back Andy Hall. Andy is a freelance photographer from Stonehaven who has published several books on the landscapes of Scotland. His talk and latest publication entitled ‘Decisive Moments’ is aimed at photographers of all abilities.
